Proof Zachary Taylor Presidential Dollars were originally available as part of the 2009 Presidential Dollar Proof Set, the 2009 Proof Set, and the 2009 Silver Proof Set, issued directly by the U.S. Mint. Additionally, they were sold as individual coins.
The date, mint mark, and the motto “E Pluribus Unum” are located on the edge inscription of the coin. The Mint also created special packaging for Proof Sets so that collectors can view the edges of the coins.
Zachary Taylor’s Background:
Zachary Taylor became president after a long army career during which he served in many remote outposts and led forces to victory in the Mexican-American War. He only served 16 months in office before he became ill and died. He was the second president to die in office, the first being William Henry Harrison.
