Proof William Henry Harrison Presidential Dollars (Buy on eBay) are special collectible versions of the standard circulating coin.
The United States Mint creates specially minted Proof coins with a sharp relief on polished and treated blanks. These coins have frosted raised design elements and mirrored background, which results in a striking cameo effect.
Proof William Henry Harrison Presidential Dollars were originally available as part of the 2009 Presidential Dollar Proof Set, the 2009 Proof Set, and the 2009 Silver Proof Set, issued directly by the U.S. Mint. Additionally, they were sold as individual coins.
The date, mint mark, and the motto “E Pluribus Unum” are located on the edge inscription of the coin. The Mint also created special packaging for Proof Sets so that collectors can view the edges of the coins.
William Henry Harrison’s Background:
William Henry Harrison became the ninth president of the United States in 1841 and is remembered as the president who won the Battle of Tippecanoe in 1811 against Native Americans. He delivered a one-hour-and-45-minute inaugural speech in a rainstorm without wearing a hat or coat, which led to his development of pneumonia and his death just 30 days after his inauguration. He was the first President to die in office.
“The prudent capitalist will never venture his capital…. if there exists a state of uncertainty as to whether the government will repeal tomorrow what it has enacted today.”
