Nixon Presidential Dollars were originally available as part of the 2016 Presidential Dollar Proof Set, the 2016 Proof Set, and the 2016 Silver Proof Set issued directly by the U.S. Mint. Additionally, they were sold as individual coins. Sales for the 2016 Proof Presidential Dollar Set increased from the previous year, reaching 231,549.
The date, mint mark, and the motto “E Pluribus Unum” are located on the edge inscription of the coin. The Mint also created special packaging for Proof Sets so that collectors can view the edges of the coins.

Before entering politics, Richard M. Nixon had practiced law and served as a lieutenant commander in the U.S. Navy during World War II. After the war, he ran for Congress successfully and later earned a seat in the Senate, where he served until winning the vice presidency. He became President of the United States in 1969, and during his time in office, he ended the war in Vietnam, improved relations with the Soviet Union, and opened trade with China. However, he resigned to avoid impeachment for his role in the Watergate scandal, which shortened his tenure.
