Proof John Quincy Adams Presidential Dollars (Buy on eBay) are special collectible versions of the standard circulating coin.
The United States Mint creates specially minted Proof coins with a sharp relief on polished and treated blanks. These coins have frosted raised design elements and mirrored background, which results in a striking cameo effect.
Proof John Quincy Adams Presidential Dollars were originally available as part of the 2008 Presidential Dollar Proof Set, the 2008 Proof Set, and the 2008 Silver Proof Set issued directly by the U.S. Mint. Additionally, they were sold as individual coins.
The date, mint mark, and the motto “In God We Trust” are located on the edge inscription of the coin. The Mint also created special packaging for Proof Sets so that collectors can view the edges of the coins.
